Mr Cenio E Lewis, High Commissioner of St Vincent and the Grenadines said “The banana industry contributes less to the economy of St Vincent and the Grenadines than in the past so in order to make it as profitable as possible we now focus on organic and fairtrade – so if you’re buying a banana make it a fair trade one.”   Speaking at WDC, 24/6/2013

The links between High Wycombe and St Vincent are clear from this Bucks Free Press article.  Details of the activity of the St Vincent people in High Wycombe can be found at https://www.facebook.com/SV2GGroup/

The important of Fairtrade to the people of St Vincent is illustrated by this quote from Caribbean News Now:
“Dr Christopher Stange of the Consulate for St Vincent and the Grenadines to Northern Ireland explained the obstacles and recent setbacks faced by St Vincent banana farmers, types of agricultural products, export, supply chain, sustainable practices, and the mechanism of Fairtrade in alleviating poverty and ensuring global trade.”
