  • Items from the Fairtrade Foundation website have also been posted on our website

Stall at Hazlemere Co-op on 6th March

  • Very successful stall – Fairtrade items available in the store were displayed and sold on the stall and samples of Fairtrade chocolate were offered to shoppers
  • Member of Co-op staff took a video whilst interviewing steering group members
  • Co-op has good links with local schools and staff have given talks on Fairtrade and invited students to the store to do a Fairtrade ‘treasure trail’

Grecia/Coope Victoria video meeting on 25th March

  • A very friendly and constructive meeting – participants from Coope Victoria, Grecia Fair Trade and Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor of Grecia, the Mayor of High Wycombe and a Wycombe Town Councillor
  • Managers at Coope Victoria were keen to re-establish the Grecia/Wycombe schools’ link and to send samples of coffee beans to roasteries and independent cafes in the Wycombe area

Renewal of Fairtrade Town certificate

  • Need to submit our application by 7th August
  • Suggested that we jointly prepare this at our upcoming steering group meetings

Pann Mill stall on 10th May

  • Will be running a tombola with Fairtrade/ethically-sourced prizes

AOB

  • Visitors from Wycombe’s Twin Town of Kelkheim will be visiting Wycombe between 22nd and 25th May
  • Steering group members will be hosting 2 of the visitors and it is hoped to arrange a meeting with the rest of the steering group on 23rd May
  • Wycombe Friends of the Earth have invited us to hold a stall at their event on 5th June, at which a ‘Climate Comedian’ will be giving a talk
  • UK government is proposing to strengthen its approach to making business more responsible and there is a petition on the Fairtrade Foundation’s website
  • There is a live discussion tomorrow on the Fairtrade Foundation’s media channels between a campaigner and a cocoa farmer
